Wer bin ich: Mein Name ist Michael, ich wurde am 20. April 1983 in Rorschach geboren. Freunde und Bekannte nennen mich Mike.
Who am i: My name is Michael, i was born on the 20. of April 1983 in Rorschach, Switzerland. Friends and family call me Mike.
Wo findet man mich: Bisher habe ich in der Ostschweiz im Ort Rorschach gewohnt, zur Zeit befinde ich mich in Thailand auf der Insel Phuket. Die kleine Strandstadt Patong ist meine neue Heimat.
Where do you find me: Until the last year i lived in my little hometown Rorschach in the northeast of Switzerland. I’m now in Thailand where i found a new home on the Island of Phuket, in the small beach-city of Patong.
Was tue ich: Im Sommer 2004 habe ich meine Lehre als Informatiker abgeschlossen und bin noch knapp 2 Jahre bei meinem Lehrbetrieb, der Leica Geosystems AG, geblieben. Anschliessend habe ich bei der ESCATEC Switzerland AG eine neue Herausforderung in angriff genommen. Primär war ich im IT-Support tätig, sowie in der Betreuung aller EDV Systeme, am Standort. Nach 3 Jahren habe ich meine Anstellung gekündigt und bin auf eine kleine Weltreise, wobei ich dabei auf den Geschmack des Tauchens gekommen bin und darin eine neue Zukunft gefunden habe. Ich bin nun zertifizierter PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor und auf der Suche nach einem Job hier in Patong wo ich nun schon gut 10Monate lebe.
What am i doing: In 2004 i finished my apprenticeship as a IT Specialist and worked another two years at my old company Leica Geosystems AG. After that i changed my workplace to the ESCATEC Switzerland AG, where i found a new challenge in IT. My main field was general IT support and system engineering for all the local systems. After another 3 years i quit that job and went on a little world travel, where i found my new love, diving. In the sport of recreational diving i saw a new hope for the future and i continued my education up to the PADI Open Water Scuba Instructor. I’m now searching for a job as diving teacher here in Patong, where i live since nearly 10month.
Was sind meine Interessen : Bisher war das Mountainbike mein grösstes Hobby, doch seit ich hier in Patong bin habe ich eine neue Leidenschaft entdeckt, das Tauchen. Dieser Sport hat mir eine neue Türe geöffnet und mir eine Welt gezeigt, welche ich bisher nur aus dem TV kannte. Das Tauchen gefiel mir gleich so gut, dass ich meine Ausbildung fortgesetzt habe und mich bis zum OWSI sprich Tauchlehrer fortgebildet habe. Noch einmal möchte ich probieren ob sich ein grossartiges Hobby zum Beruf machen lässt und dieses mal bin ich zuversichtlich das die Freude einiges länger anhält als bei der IT.
What are my interests: Until now, mountain biking was my favorite hobby, but since I’m here in Patong i found a new awesome sport, diving. This sport opened up the door to a new world and showed me things i only knew from TV documentaries. I love diving so much that i worked my way up to Instructor and i hope that i can transform that hobby in my profession once more. But this time i am quite sure, it will hold on for a longer time then IT.
Warum schreibe ich: Ein Blog ist für mich wie eine Kombination aus Tagebuch und Spielwiese. Ich kann mir Frust und Freude von der Seele schreiben und allfälligen Lesern unter Umständen sogar noch etwas Wissenswertes vermitteln. Gleichzeitig bietet es mir die Möglichkeit ein wenig im Web zu basteln und einige Dinge auszuprobieren um Web2.0 technisch Erfahrungen zu sammeln. Nicht zuletzt ist ein Blog eine herrliche Möglichkeit mit den ganzen Verwandten und Freunden Zuhause in Kontakt zu bleiben und ihnen allfällige News brühwarm zu “erzählen”.
Why am i writing: A blog is something like a mixture of a diary and a playground. I’m able to write down things out of my mind and sometimes i am also able to transfer some knowledge to my dear readers. On the other hand its a good chance to play around in the web, try out some nice web2.0 things and gain some experience in that area. Last but not least is my blog a wonderful thing to keep in touch with family and friends at home and to send some information home as soon something happens.
